California Energy Commission Closes the Evidentiary Record on Stanton Energy Reliability Center – Final Approvals Expected Later this Year

August 2, 2018 – Stanton, CA – The California Energy Commission held its Evidentiary Hearing in Stanton today, followed by a public comment session. The hearing was uneventful since W Power and the CEC Staff were in agreement on the Final Staff Assessment, which found that the Stanton Energy Reliability Center would not create any significant adverse impacts under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

A public comment period was held at the end of the hearing where a number of elected officials, members of the building trades, and members of the general public expressed their support for the state-of-the-art energy reliability center. “We are delighted to have achieved this significant milestone on this exciting project. The support we have received from the City of Stanton and the greater North Orange County community has been amazing. We look forward to receiving our final approvals, closing financing, and getting construction underway early in 2019,” stated Kara Miles, the President of W Power.

W Power Announces 2018 Scholarship Recipients

June 1, 2018 Sacramento, CA – W Power, a California based owner and operator of Community Energy Reliability Centers announced today the recipients of its annual college scholarship program. Students are selected who are majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) studies; exhibit personal or community leadership; demonstrate financial need; and plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.

Stanton Energy Reliability Center Sails Through the CEC’s Preliminary Staff Assessment and Workshop

April 19, 2018 – Stanton, CA – The California Energy Commission published its Preliminary Staff Assessment (PSA) of W Power’s proposed Stanton Energy Reliability Center on March 30, 2018 and held a public workshop to review its findings on April 18th in Stanton California. The PSA found that the project as proposed would not create any significant adverse impacts under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Topics discussed at the workshop included: Biological Resources, Visual Resources, Traffic and Transportation, Noise and Vibration, Socioeconomics, Alternatives, Engineering Design, Project Description, Air Quality, Public Health and Environmental Justice. A public comment period was held at the end of the workshop where only one comment was made, whereby a member of the public had some questions regarding Environmental Justice which were responded to by the State’s experts. “We are very pleased to have achieved this significant milestone on this exciting project. We continue to be humbled by the welcome we have received in the City of Stanton and the tremendous public support this project enjoys,” stated Kara Miles, the President of W power.

June 23, 2017 – Fullerton, CA – In a large awards ceremony held this evening at the Fullerton Airport by the North Orange County Chamber of Commerce, W Power received the 2017 North Orange County Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence and Leadership Award. Stanton Energy Reliability Center sees an outpouring of public support at the CEC’s Public Site Visit, Environmental Scoping Meeting, and Informational Hearing held on April 17, 2017

April 17, 2017 – Stanton, CA – The California Energy Commission held a Public Site Visit, Environmental Scoping Meeting and Informational Hearing for the Stanton Energy Reliability Center at the Stanton Community Center in Stanton California on April 17^th, 2017. CEC Commissioner Janea A. Scott, and CEC Hearing Officer Kenneth Celli presided over the meeting. After a bus tour of the project, the meeting introduced the public to the CEC’s siting process and set forth the many ways the public could participate in the proceeding. Presentations were given by the CEC’s Hearing Officer, the CEC’s Project Manager, the CEC’s Public Advisor, and Stanton Energy Reliability Center, LLC. The meeting concluded with Public Comment, during which time there was a massive outpouring of support expressed for the project from local electeds, equipment suppliers, organized labor, and Stanton residents. Not a single negative comment was given. “Quite candidly, we are touched by the level of support the Station Energy Reliability Center is receiving form all stakeholders. Station Energy Reliability Center Certified as Data Adequate by the California Energy Commission

March 8, 2017 – Sacramento, Ca – The California Energy Commission certified W Power’s Stanton Energy Reliability Center as Data Adequate by a 5-0 vote. Data Adequacy certifies W Power’s application as complete and certifies that it meets all of the requirements listed in Title 20, section 1704, and Division 2, Chapter 5, Appendix B of the California Code of Regulations. The commission also assigned the Siting Committee, which consists of two commissioners, a Presiding Member and an Associate Member. Commissioner Janea Scott has been assigned at the Presiding Member and Commissioner Karen Douglass has been assigned as the Associate Member. “W Power is delighted to have achieved this milestone. We look forward to working closely with the California Energy Commission, interested parties and stakeholders to bring this state-of-the-art reliability solution on line as soon as possible,” said Kara Miles, President of W Power. Stanton Energy Reliability Center Announces Sponsorship of Stanton Central Park

Stanton Energy Reliability Center has committed to sponsoring Stanton Central Park by supplying financing for trees and landscaping, as well as supporting the ongoing park maintenance and improvements. The park grand opening is June 25, 2016.
